Overview

DE&S delivers world-class equipment and support services to the UK armed forces, playing a critical role in keeping the UK nation safe and prosperous and making sure the front lines have the right kit at the right time – from supporting the continuous at-sea deterrent to getting essential munitions to Ukraine.

Mr Start will discuss the changing demands on Allied acquisition organisations and the efforts currently underway in DE&S to increase the pace and efficiency of delivery as part of a wider MoD programme of change.

Mr Start will also offer his thoughts on maximising the organisation’s unique position in the defence enterprise, while strengthening the international partnerships that enable continued protection and prosperity for the UK and its allies.

About the Speaker

Andy Start was appointed to his current role in September 2022. Trained as an engineer, he spent the first decade of his career in the space business as a designer and programme manager of military satellite systems. His career progressed to leading a wide range of aerospace and defence businesses, specialising in helping to improve performance and drive strategic change.
