Overview
Following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine and growing uncertainty over European security, Germany has begun a significant reassessment of its defence and security policy. These changes have important implications for Germany’s role within Europe, NATO and the transatlantic alliance.
Drawing on her new book, Germany Rearmed: The Return of War and the End of Illusions, Liana Fix will discuss how Germany reached this point, the domestic constraints on its ambitions, how its changing role is viewed across Europe, and whether Berlin can deliver on the expectations now placed upon it.
