Overview

India stands at a pivotal moment in its role on the global stage, experiencing rapid economic growth, expanding diplomatic influence, and a growing role in regional and global governance. Its trajectory is shaped by a complex array of internal and external challenges – from infrastructure gaps to the evolving dynamics of great power competition.

In this briefing, High Commissioner Doraiswami will offer insights into India’s strategic ambitions, its vision for multipolar engagement, and the structural reforms underpinning its economic and technological transformation. He will also reflect on how India navigates its relationships with major powers, its role within the Global South, and the implications for UK–India relations at a time of renewed bilateral momentum, accelerated by a free trade agreement.
