Overview

Following the UK’s Strategic Defence Review, the UK’s Industrial Strategy and upcoming Defence Investment Plan – along with the defence industry –  will play a major role in shaping the future European security architecture. This architecture will need to balance strategic autonomy, technological leadership, allied solidarity and democratic values. But how can the defence industry engage and secure the support of Gen Z – a generation seemingly much less likely to support defence spending or agree that policies such as support for Ukraine are a priority? From the vantage point of a generation holding distinct views, we ask: what kind of future do young people want – and what role will they play in building it?
