Overview

RUSI NextGen and the Aspen institute invite you to an exclusive evening event exploring one of today’s most pressing challenges: the spread of online misinformation and disinformation – and the evolving role of public policy in confronting it.

This panel discussion will analyse how emerging technologies, particularly AI, are reshaping the scale and impact of information threats. We’ll examine Westminster and Whitehall’s current approach (including the Online Safety Act) and evaluate the policy solutions most likely to preserve information integrity – from regulation to education, to AI detection tools. The event will feature expert insights from across journalism, academia, government and regulatory bodies.

The RUSI NextGen and the Aspen Institute UK panel discussion on these and other questions will be held on Friday 12th September at 17.30. A networking reception with the speakers and attendees will follow the panel. This event will take place at RUSI’s historic home of 61 Whitehall and is in-person only.

Speakers:

  • Rich Preston, BBC News Anchor and World Affairs Reporter
