Overview
Subsea cables are the backbone of global communications networks, connecting a globalised world and economy. Persistent threats to the integrity of these cables take many forms, ranging from natural to cyber threats, but also alleged sabotage activities in the Baltics and the Taiwan Strait. The protection of these subsea cables is crucial to the maintainance of global communication networks and economic stability.
The panellists will reflect on the current threat landscape to which subsea cables are exposed and how the UK and its allies can address these threats through cyber-security, legal or other measures.
