Overview

The conflict in Ukraine is providing insights into the future of drone warfare and offering lessons for other militaries. Unmanned aerial vehicles have become a common feature on the frontline against the Russian invaders, and these include smaller commercial drones that have been adapted for the battlefield. The conflict has demonstrated how quickly drone technology can be developed, indicating how innovative and resourceful people can be when they are facing an existential battle for their country.

Drawing on the lessons from Ukraine, Air Marshal Bagwell will discuss how the future of drone warfare might evolve and how AI could change the way militaries operate drones on the battlefield.

The briefing will be chaired by Professor Justin Bronk, Senior Research Fellow for Airpower and Technology, RUSI.
