Overview

Mr  Yatsenyuk, who was Ukraine’s  Prime Minister when Russia first launched its war of aggression in 2014, is often referred to as the architect of the 2014–2016 reforms. He stabilised the country, rebuilt the army, secured energy independence, advanced closer ties with Europe, and achieved visa-free travel with the EU.

Mr Yatsenyuk was among the few who publicly warned of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. In his address to the Institute, he will offer his personal thoughts on whether Russia’s aggression can be stopped and lasting peace in Europe secured. He will also consider if Ukraine can preserve democracy under its existential threat and what principles must guide its reconstruction.
