The Centre for Finance and Security at RUSI invites you to the launch of the September special issue of the RUSI Journal, Illicit Finance in a Fragmenting World: Can the Global Financial Integrity System Keep Pace?
The global system for tackling illicit finance was built on the assumption that countries would become more interconnected and more willing to cooperate. Instead, it now finds itself operating in a world shaped by geopolitical rivalry, sanctions, technological disruption and competing financial infrastructures. The question is no longer simply whether the system works, but whether it is equipped for the environment in which it now operates.
Through contributions from practitioners, policymakers and academics from around the world, the latest issue of the Journal explores what this changing landscape means for the future of the Financial Action Task Force, the legitimacy of the global financial integrity architecture and the growing intersection between finance, security and geopolitics.
The Journal also brings together perspectives from the Global South, where the consequences of illicit finance and the global response are often felt most acutely, but where voices remain underrepresented in global policy debates.
We will be joined by expert contributors to mark the publication of this issue. We expect a lively discussion to be continued over drinks and a reception.
