Overview

Every major war offers a window into how future wars would be waged, and some conflicts contain more insights than others. As the Pentagon’s No. 2 leader, Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks will reflect on lessons learned over nearly three years of Russia’s latest war of aggression against Ukraine, their implications for potential future conflict in the Indo-Pacific, and how innovations by the US, UK, and other like-minded allies and partners can give democracies an upper hand in shaping and mastering the changing character of war.

This event will be moderated by Rachel Ellehuus, former US Defence Advisor to NATO and Secretary of Defence Representative in Europe and incoming RUSI Director-General.
