Overview
Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine signals an irreversible turning point for European and global security. Along with other NATO member countries, Latvia has reinforced its deterrence and defence. Effective implementation of defence plans, increased investment in the defence industry, fair burden sharing and a long-term strategy of containment towards Russia are now a priority for the Alliance.
President Rinkēvičs will discuss Latvia’s enduring support in defending Ukraine’s right to exist as a sovereign and democratic country, NATO’s role in protecting the rules-based international order, and the future of Baltic and broader European security.
