We are curently offering a limited number of placements, no more than two interns at any given time, each lasting up to six months.  

While we are not able to offer a stipend, our internship programme provides serious professional experience, exposure to cutting-edge security and defence policy debates, and high-quality training within a leading international think tank. 

Key tasks 

  • Event Coordination: Assist in the planning, logistics, and execution of high-level conferences, workshops, and roundtables involving policymakers, academics, and industry leaders. 

  • Communications Support: Contribute to the development of internal and external communications, including newsletters, social media content, and website updates.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Help maintain and expand relationships with institutional partners, industry representatives, government bodies, and think-tanks.

  • Business Development: Support proposal writing, fundraising efforts, and strategic outreach to potential partners and collaborators.

  • Research Assistance: Provide background research on defence and security topics to inform the Institute’s outputs. 

Person specification  

  • Candidates must be students enrolled in a university programme in international relations, political science, communications, security studies, or a related field.

  • Candidates benefitting from the Erasmus+ Programme are strongly encouraged to apply.

  • Candidates must have the right to reside and work in the European Union and be based in Brussels or willing to relocate to Brussels.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of other languages is an asset. Ability to work with discretion and strong diplomatic communication skills.

  • Strong organisational and multitasking skills, with attention to detail.

  • Interest in European and transatlantic security and defence policy.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
