Overview

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has highlighted the importance of transitioning to a more flexible and rapid way of procuring all types of equipment, from generating the new and improved continuous at-sea deterrent, through to recapitalising and replacing equipment supplied to Ukraine. This new era presents opportunities to harness innovation and technologies to best effect, and offers the chance to reform the UK military to ensure that it stays ahead of its adversaries.

The Minister will discuss why the MoD, the UK defence industry and wider SMEs must think differently about the challenges we face and how we tackle them. He will reflect on the recent changes introduced – from the Integrated Procurement Model and the Defence Drone Strategy to the Spiral Navigation Guide – which will place the MoD in a better position to achieve its objectives.
