Overview

Russian air defences are some of the most formidable in the world. Nevertheless, a detailed examination of Russia’s defence industrial supply chains has identified widespread vulnerabilities as regards access to critical raw and processed materials, sub-components, software, and machine tooling that offers significant opportunities for both the disruption of production and the technical compromise of systems.

In this invitation-only briefing, RUSI, in collaboration with the Economic Security Council of Ukraine and Panoptikon, will provide an overview of the research and answer questions on its wider implications. In the context of a need to ensure a conventional balance of deterrence in Europe, and to secure Ukraine, there is significant interest across European NATO in degrading the density and capabilities of Russian air defences.
