Overview
In an era when the international rules-based order is under increasing strain, the United Kingdom faces a fundamental question: should its foreign policy be anchored in the principles of international law, or shaped by the short-term considerations of Realpolitik?
While foreign policy has sometimes seemed a distant concern to most voters, Britain’s foreign policy is not an elitist 'great game', or a charitable exercise. It must serve the priorities that matter most to British people: safety, jobs, inflation, migration. It must also be rooted in Britain’s distinctive contribution, answering the question: what does Britain stand for?
