Lecture Overview

The current and future strategic operating environment and rapidly evolving technologies demand that the provision of military education is based on a future-focused, flexible and innovative philosophy, together with a commitment to building the capacity for lifelong, relevant and continuous learning.

Major General Rowell will discuss the importance of working together to enhance the intellectual capability of students across the military and government, in order to meet the global security and defence challenges we face today and in the future.

This event will be chaired by Dr Victoria Taylor, lecturer and historian.

The lecture will take place between 17:30 and 18:30 BST.

About the Prince Philip Lecture on Military Education

Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, as Patron of RUSI at that time, graciously approved the establishment of a yearly Prince Philip Lecture on Military Education in 2021 to honour the legacy of the late Prince, who launched a nationwide debate about the importance of military education at a speech delivered to RUSI in 1983.
